Casey Willingham Fourth in Season Opener at Atlanta Motor Speedway
Legends Semi-Pro driver Casey Willingham, after a month off from the track, was ready to race on Saturday, January 14th, 2012, at Atlanta Motor Speedway (GA). In the Legends Semi-Pro feature as part of the Winter Flurry Series, Willingham drove to a fourth-place finish.
About Casey Willingham
After taking his first trip to the race track at only three months old, it was obvious where Casey Willingham belonged especially considering Willingham’s grandfather was a crew chief for a Ferrari race team and his father also has racing experience.
At eight years old he finally got his first taste behind the wheel of a Go-Kart. Willingham raced a Kart for six years on the red clay tracks of North Georgia earning numerous wins and two championships. A three-year stint in Mini Cups followed. The young driver won Rookie of the Year honors in his first year of competition and took home the National Championship hardware in his final season, 2010.
Willingham has since moved to Legend Cars and in 2011 he finished fourth in his first full Thursday Thunder season at Atlanta Motor Speedway (GA) in the highly competitive Semi-Pro division. 2012 will see the 17-year-old driver back behind the wheel of his No. 4 Legend car.
